Even with a pre-booked ticket you can expect a long queue and an even longer wait. You can skip the queue if you decide to take one of our recommended tours.

Disabled Access

The Roman Colosseum disabled access is provided by a step-free main entrance, a flat smooth interior, and an elevator to the upper level. Some parts of the interior have steps, and there are cobblestones outside the entrance.

Colosseum Underground and Third Ring Tour

The famous underground chambers, the arena floor and the upper tier can only be visited by taking a tour. On this Underground and Third Ring Tour you’ll have the rare chance to walk through the tunnels, stand where gladiators stood and enjoy a panoramic view from the top tier.

Note that this tour is not for people with mobility problems as there are very steep steps getting up and down the third tier. These steps are also very narrow. At this time the Underground and Third Ring tour is not available for anyone in a wheelchair.

Safety & Security

For safety reasons the Coliseum can accommodate up to 3.000 people at once. This can lead to delays in access to the site, even for pre-booked visitors. All visitors and their luggage are screened before entering.
